Altmann's Helmets acquired the rights to produce Lucasfilm Star Wars helmets
back in the late 90's and this continued until 2004. Based out of Australia,
their license specifically covered the Southern hemisphere. However given
the global nature of commerce these helmets spread into the United States
and Europe as on-line retailing became more commonplace.
To be blunt,
Altmann's range varied from the bloody-awful to blinkin'-superb. The most
"important" helmets they produced (from a sales and thus their own revenue
perspective) were the rather dreadful Darth Vader and Stormtrooper helmets.
However they faired significantly better on the less-well-known characters
like the Biker Scout and Boussh - producing helmets that have never been
bettered from a licensed, and arguably even fan-made perspective.
